About our Beef

ANGUS/HEREFORD CROSS

From our herd of purebred Angus mama cows, these calves were sired by the Pharo Hereford bull (makes black calf with white face).

Wagyu/Hereford Cross

In March 2022 we had our first batch of steers ready to go to the butcher from our mostly Wagyu mama cows, sired by our friendly Pharo Hereford Bull.  We are excited about this beef and think it is even more tender than our Angus beef.  We are selling it at the same price as our Angus beef.

How they are raised on our farm:

All of our calves have been home-raised and hand-fed locally-grown alfalfa and orchard grass-- all NonGMO and chemical-free and home-grown yellow or white corn and field peas – 100% NonGMO and chemical-free crops from our organic or transition-to-organic fields. The animals are not given hormone implants or antibiotics.  We treat our cattle with care and will treat one with antibiotics, if necessary, but that means it is removed from our program.  Our calves are vaccinated before weaning.  We purposefully select bulls that make smaller framed calves, therefore, our animals are finished at a lighter weight.

Although we raise certified organic crops and we are treating our cattle with an organic mindset, these animals are NOT certified organic.  We strive to provide chemical-free beef with the delicious Nebraska corn-fed taste that everyone loves.  In that, we believe in the humane treatment of our animals.  This is a small group of cattle that have been hanging out together since being fence-line weaned.  They don’t have to fight for space or stress about getting enough food.  In the future, we hope to incorporate more grazing for our steers as they are being fed our chemical-free grain.
